This morning we went around the Sisters and through an area that was scattered with obsidian. The volcanic glass made the trail glitter all around. The trail was reminiscent of the Sierras including a sort of mini-pass up some more volcanic rocks. Around mile 22 for the day the trail hit a lava field. This is the roughest trail I've seen since it was composed entirely of fist-sized, sharp volcanic rocks. It was like this for about four miles until it got smoother which helped us go for the highway and our biggest day of 40 miles.
