Today was the start of a forty two mile dry stretch through the heat of the desert. It was a shock coming down from the peace of the forest into a desolate wasteland and it makes me want to get to the Sierras that much more. Luckily, around noon I ran into some trail angels who were parked with a cooler of gatorade and candy bars. Their kindness gave me a boost to get moving even though I had to take eight liters of water.
