This morning Phil and Mel dropped me off at the trail and I assumed I would never see them again, but I was wrong. They drove down to Echo Lake and started doing a little hiking themselves so I was quite surprised when I caught up to them. We talked for a bit more and they let me go on my way around the lake, which I think is the biggest I've hiked beside yet. After Echo, the trail got pretty rocky for a few miles which slowed me down a bit and made my feet sore. I had one pass today, but it was only 9,400 feet, which seems like nothing after what I've done.
